Biochar and the Church

slide-image-2Years ago at Hope UMC a small group of people got together to explore a new strategy for combining the production of energy with enrichment of soil called BioChar.   Dr. Alan Page, a long time member of Hope UMC,  has been pursuing this effort ever since that early beginning with a ‘Carbon Negative‘ strategy to save our planet and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.  This coming weekend October 13th through the 16th the University of Massachusetts will host the 2013 North American Biochar Symposium, a direct outgrowth from that early beginning in the fellowship hall of of Hope.  We invite you to take a look at their website and take some time this weekend to educate yourself about this important strategy for saving God’s world.
