As we all work to stay connected and to participate in worship during this time that we can’t physically be together, we want to make sure that everyone is aware of the various ways that they can worship with Hope. Of course the “usual” ways of worshiping while away are still available to you. The service can be viewed on BCTV channel 191 at 7:00 PM on Sunday evenings and the service will also be posted here on our website by Sunday evening (There may be times that the BCTV showing is a week behind).
This past Sunday we had our first Facebook Live event during the worship service. If you would like to watch with us as we Livestream at 10 AM you will need to have a Facebook account. For any of you who do not have a Facebook account, let me assure you that it is very easy to set up and if you don’t want to get involved in everything that happens on social media, you really don’t have to! All that will be asked for when you open an account is a valid email address or cell phone number (which will be kept private) your gender and date of birth. You can enter as little information as you want in your profile, don’t need to use a picture of yourself and can adjust your privacy settings to make yourself almost invisible. If you really want to remain anonymous, you could even have fun coming up with a pseudonym!
To create an account from your computer, go to Facebook.com/r.php. If you are doing it on a cell phone or tablet, download the Facebook app from iTunes or Google Play. When you open the app you will be prompted to create an account. Once you have an account, you can put Hope United Methodist Church into the search to find us.
The only other way that you could watch at 10 AM is if you have a family member or close friend that will allow you to log into their Facebook account (and I’m not sure if they could be viewing from another device at the same time).
When the service is done, the FB video will be saved and we will put a link to it on the website as quickly as we can. It’s my understanding that anyone will be able to use that link to watch after the fact (we tested it out today and our tester was able to get to the video!).
The last alternative if you can’t do any of the above: there are 2 DVDs made when we record the service. Those could be shared any time after Sunday evening. If you know someone that this would help, let the church office know.
Let’s continue to join our hearts together as we worship.
